ANCHOAS HAZAS
The Anchoas Hazas canning factory is located in Lastres, a traditional fishing village in the Cantabrian Sea of Asturias.
Its founders have recovered the artisanal recipes of the old canning factories, to create a unique product, hand-made from spring-season Cantabrian anchovy.
The anchovy is worked entirely by hand, from a selected anchovy of the highest quality, manually deheaded and salted for between 1 and 2 years, it is kneaded and deboned by hand to obtain a delicate anchovy, with a unique flavour and texture.
International Awards
In 2020, several Anchoas Hazas products received 3 stars in the Great Taste, a blind tasting of products worldwide, and the Golden Fork for the best imported product in the world, two awards from the same organization that had never before been received by a canning company in the world.
In 2023, they received new Great Taste stars. Three of their products – Anchoas Hazas, Anchoas El Astilleru de Hazas and Anchoa Hazas stuffed olives – received three stars respectively, and three other items – gildas, anchovy and cheese sandwiches and Hazas anchovy in vinegar – received one star each.
